Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start an engine positively when a motor is under solo operation without upsizing the motor or using a dedicated motor for starting the engine.
SOLUTION: An engine 1 is connected to the input member side of a continuously variable transmission CVT 5 through a clutch 3 and started by a motor/ generator M/G 6 with the clutch 3 engaged, and the output side of M/G 6 is connected to a driving wheel 9 side through CVT 5. When a vehicle travels by individual operation of M/G 6 with the clutch 3 disengaged, a controller 20 controls the transmission gear ratio of M/G 6 so as to become rotational speed meeting the required output of a driver detected by a rotation sensor 18 and an APS 19 within such a range that M/G 6 leaves a marginal torque for the starting torque of the engine 1, thus it is possible to start the engine 1 positively while M/G 6 is under solo operation without upsizing M/G 6 or using a dedicated motor for starting the engine 1.
