To provide a controller applicable to operation devices of any steering remote controller, etc. without producing problems of an installation space, cost, etc., and to provide an operation contents assigning method, etc.
The controller is connected to the operation device in which a plurality of operation keys operated by a user are prepared. The controller inputs a value which corresponds to voltage outputted from the operation device and receives, from the user, selection of operation contents of the controller which is to be assigned to any one of the operation keys. Thus, when the operation key is operated by the user in a state that a mode assigning the operation content is selected, the operation content selected by the user is assigned to a range within which the input value falls. When a mode assigning the operation content is not selected after the assignment of the operation mode, if the user operates the operation key, the controller carries out operation control of the execution of the operation content assigned in the range within which the input value falls.
