To control the whole operating area simply using minimum parameters, by detecting the input amount and the output amount of a battery, and, based on the detected results, controlling generated amount by a generator and regenerated amount by a motor.
A generator driving engine 1, a generator 2, a battery 3, an inverter 4, a propelling electric motor 5, a driving system 6, and a controller 7 are fitted. The engine 1 is used only for driving the generator 2, power generated by the generator 2 is supplied to the battery 3 as charging power, and supplied to the motor 5 through the inverter 4 as drive power. A voltage sensor for measuring terminal voltage and a temperature sensor for measuring temperature are disposed at the battery 3, and charging capable input and the maximum capable output are obtained from a data table based on the detected values of the terminal voltage and the temperature. It is thus possible to control the whole operating area using the minimum parameter which is the input amount and the output amount of the battery 3.
