Title:
COOLING DEVICE FOR WATER-COOLED INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3731696
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce required pumping power while shortening a flow passage of a cooling water system and reducing passage resistance, facilitate manufacture and reduce a cost while reducing number of component items and working man-hours.
SOLUTION: A cooling device for a water-cooled internal combustion engine is provided as follows: a cam shaft 18 is arranged on an upper side of a cylinder head 5 for driving a valve system of the internal combustion engine; the cam shaft 18 is rotationally driven by a crank shaft through a transmitting mechanism 23: and a cooling water pump 50 which is rotationally driven by the cam shaft 18 is arranged on an outer side of the transmitting mechanism 23. In such a cooling device, a cooling water passage is lead from the cooling water pump 50 to the internal combustion engine (water jackets 44, 45 formed on cylinder blocks 4, 5), through a passage laid over a transmitting mechanism chamber 62. The transmitting mechanism 23 has an endless structure. A communication pipe 61 composing the passage laid over the transmitting mechanism chamber 62 supports an idle pulley 25 of the endless transmitting mechanism.
