Title:
COOLING OF REACTOR CORE CATCHER BY HEAT PIPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001166081
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a heat removing device for a lower region of a reactor vessel.

The head removing device for the lower region 70 of the nuclear reactor pressure vessel 12 of a boiling water reactor 10 protects a boundary part 22 of a housing part from a destructive action by a fragment of a melted core reactor 14 and prevents the boundary part 22 of the housing part from being fractured by cooling of the fragment of the melted core reactor when an unexpected serious accident such as leakage of the melted core reactor 14 from a lower side head 20 of the nuclear reactor pressure vessel 12 occurs. The head removing device contains a glass substrate slab 64 placed adjacent to a floor 66 of the housing part and multiple heat tubes 68 buried into the glass substrate slab 64 for at least one part with extending to the lower region 70 of the nuclear reactor pressure vessel 12. A cooling device contains a passive type housing part cooling device 38 and a fusible vent pipe 32 for connecting a suppression pool 30 to a dry well 24.
