PURPOSE: To provide the subject copolymer which can give a water-proof and oil-proof finishing to textiles, hides and papers by copolymerizing an ethylenic unsaturated perfluoroalkyl monomer and an ethylenic unsaturated monomer not containing a perfluoro group in the presence of a specific emulsifier.
CONSTITUTION: An ethylenic unsaturated perfluoroalkyl monomer and an ethylenic unsaturated monomer which does not contain a perfluoroalkyl group are copolymerized in the presence of an emulsifier shown by formula I [X is O, NH; R1 is H, CH3; R2 and R3 are C1-4 alkyls; R4 is C1-18 alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, a group shown by formula II (Q is H, Cl, Br, C1-15 alkyl); R5 is H, C1-18 alkyl; R6 is C12-24 alkyl; W is anion; a is 1-3, the weight fractions b, c, d, e, f show 0.1-0.8, 0-0.5, 0-0.5, 0-0.7, 0-0.6 respectively and are selected so that b+c+d+e+f may become 1 and also g is selected so that the weight average molecular weight may become five thousand to one million]. Then, an aqueous dispersed liquid of a polymer is provided which is used to give a water-proof and oil-proof finishing to textiles, hides and papers.
