PURPOSE: To obtain a copying device provided with a charge removing means at low manufacturing cost by arranging plural light source of the charge removing means in plural lines and arranging the light sources of each line staggering positions to fill up the gap between light sources of other lines, and thereby making partial erasing or partial extraction of high resolution.

CONSTITUTION: Charges are distributed uniformly on the photosensitive drum 1 of a transferring section C by an electrostatical charger 2. Light is irradiated by a LED array 3 to the part to be erased partially to liberate the charge of the part. Then, the image of reflected light from an image pickup section B is formed on the exposure section 4 of the photosensitive drum 1 and a latent image is formed. In the LED array 3, plural LED 3a, 3a...3a, each 3mm in diameter, are arranged in a line at the pitch of 4mm. Such arrangement is made to two lines zigzag, and the distance between the center position of LED 3a of the first line and the center position of LED 3a of nearby second line is made to 2mm. By such arrangement gaps between LED 3a, 3a...3a of the LED arrays 3 to the direction of advance of the photosensitive drum 1 is eliminated and resolving power is made very high.
