PURPOSE: To feed surely recording paper and to prevent the deviation in transfer, by conducting the recording paper after transfer nearer the image holding body side than the tangent of the surface of the image holding body in an effective transfer region or near the same.

CONSTITUTION: A preventive plate 16 for jumping-in in the upper part of a separating electrode 7 is made into such a shape at which the forward end C on the outlet side of recording paper is positioned upper than the tangent D of a rotary drum 3 in the position M nearest the outlet side for recording paper in an effective transfer region A, and said plate is provided so as to cross the upper part of the electrode 7 from above. The recording paper fed from the direction of a transfer electrode 6 is conducted to the drum 3 side in contact with the end C of the plate 16 and near the same; therefore, the paper contacts tightly with the surface of the drum 3 in the region A, and the parting of the recording paper from the drum 3 within the region A is obviated. Since the width of an effective transfer region B is made substantially longer than the width in the prior art, the defective feeding is prevented.
