PURPOSE: To accomplish image compositing and printing with a low-priced device by placing an original on a liquid crystal display unit and printing the direct composite image of a displayed image on the liquid crystal display unit and the image of the original.

CONSTITUTION: An interface circuit 2 receives the printing data of a host device 1, and the printing data received by the interface circuit 2 and the printing data generated in a control circuit 3 are displayed on the liquid crystal display unit 4 under the control of the control circuit 3. By setting the original 6 on the liquid crystal display unit 4, displaying the printing data generated in the control circuit 3 or the printing data received by the interface circuit 2 on the liquid crystal display unit 4 and performing processing for copying and printing by the control circuit 3, the composite image is formed on the photosensitive drum 10 and a printing part 7 prints the image. Thus, the composite image is printed at a low cost.
