Abstract:

To provide the use of LIF in a cosmetic composition as such or for preparing a pharmaceutical composition as an agent intended to maintain and/or stimulate the regenerative power of a population of human undifferentiated skin stem cells and epidermal progenitors, a cosmetic process for the treatment of dry and/or chapped and/or aged skin or hair loss, and furthermore the use in the field of skin regeneration and cicatrization, particularly a treating agent for burns.

The cosmetic composition contains a compound chosen from LIF (leukaemia inhibitor factor), a LIF analogue, a LIF mimetic, a product capable of stimulating the expression of endogenous LIF, and mixtures thereof, and its use and a composition for skin topical application are disclosed.
