PURPOSE: To provide a cover type endoscope capable of holding the side mouth body part on the operator side of a cover without disengagement from a fixed position against external force.

CONSTITUTION: The insertion part 4 of the endoscope 2 for the cover is covered with an insertion part cover part 11. The mouth body part 15 disposed at the rear end of this insertion part cover part 11 is fixed by friction force of a sealing part 16 to the outer peripheral member of an operation part 5. This friction force is so set as to be made larger than the value obtd. by adding the dead weight W of the endoscope 2 for the cover hooked at a cover hanger 22 and the force acting to lift the endoscope 2 for the cover upward when the insertion part cover part 11 is pressurized. Consequently, the endoscope is constituted to hold the function of the insertion part.
