A creasing device is provided for creasing sheets of paper on a per-sheet basis. The creasing device includes: a creasing member 6 extending perpendicularly to a sheet conveying direction, and including a creasing blade (a convex blade) 6-1 which has a convex cross section; a receiving base 7 extending perpendicularly to the sheet conveying direction, and including a creasing groove (a concave blade) 7a into which the creasing blade 6-1 is fitted with a sheet between the creasing groove 7a and the creasing blade 6-1; and a drive unit 40 for bringing the creasing member 6 and the receiving base 7 relatively into and out of contact with each other to cause a sheet stopped at a predetermined position to be pinched therebetween and creased. The creasing device is configured such that an edge part of the creasing blade 6-1 has an arcuate shape protruding relative to an edge part of the receiving base 7 on the crease forming side of the creasing groove 7a.
