Abstract:

To provide a crossing obstacle detection device and an obstacle detection method which can effectively prevent a crossing accident and are low-cost.

This device includes an inlet side radio communication part 11, an outlet side radio communication part 12, and a detection part, and detects a person 20 having an electronic money terminal device 2. The inlet side radio communication part 11 and the outlet side radio communication part 12 are communicable with the electronic money terminal device 2 by radio, and installed at the inlet and the outlet of a railroad cross 5, respectively. The detection part detects the entry of the person 20 into the railroad cross 5 based on the communication between the inlet side radio communication part 11 and the electronic money terminal device 2, and also detects the exit of the person 20 from the railroad cross 5 based on the communication between the outlet side radio communication part 12 and the electronic money terminal device 2.
