To provide a method for manufacturing a crosslinked material of polylactic acid that shows a flexibility at a temperature not higher than the glass transition temperature of polylactic acid and is capable of retaining its shape at a temperature not lower than the glass transition temperature thereof.
The manufacturing method comprises a step wherein a plasticizer containing a dicarboxylic acid derivative and/or a glycerin derivative and a crosslinkable monomer are compounded and kneaded with the polylactic acid to prepare a polylactic acid composition, a step wherein the polylactic acid composition obtained in the previous step is molded into a desired shape and a step wherein a polylactic acid molded product obtained in the previous step is exposed to an ionizing radiation and crosslinked. The exposure dose of the ionizing radiation is 10-200 kGy. The proportion of the crosslinkable monomer added is 0.5-15 wt.% against 100 wt.% polylactic acid.
