PURPOSE: To automatically convey and cut a copper ingot by using a disk saw for a cutting device and making said disk saw horizontally advance perpendicularly to a transportation device and cut a workpiece from a side.

CONSTITUTION: After an ingot 13 is sent out onto a horizontal board 6 from a conveyor 2, positioning of the ingot 13 in the perpendicular direction is carried out by means of a pusher cylinder 11a. Then, the ingot 13 is pressed from the upside by a cylinder 7 and fixed. A disk saw 5 moves in the horizontal direction while being rotated, to cut the ingot 13. When the cutting operation is over, the cut ingot is carried out by a carrying-out conveyor 3. Besides using manpower, this operation can be automatized by combining a limit switch with a sequencer.
