To provide a recording paper for ink jet and a recording method applicable to two-side ink jet recording in which a marginfree whole surface ink jet recording is performed to an ink receiving layer an then an ink jet recording is made to the other surface, wherein the top surface of the marginfree whole surface ink jet recorded part will never be turned back and whitened.

The cutting method according to the invention is such that each ink jet recording sheet of paper having on one side of its base the ink receiving layer chiefly containing a pigment and hydrophilic adhesive is cut into smaller format using a Guillotine cutter, when the ink receiving surface is set as the surface to accept the blade of Guillotine. When the two-side ink jet recording is to be applied to the small-format ink jet recording paper cut by this method, first a marginfree whole surface ink jet recording is performed to the ink receiving layer and then ink jet recording is made to the other surface.
