Abstract:
To improve workability at the time of changing a cutting part.
A steel connecting member 12 and a cemented carbide shank 13 are mutually connected by an interference fit and formed into a shank part. In addition the connecting member 12 at the tip of the shank part and a cemented carbide cutting part 11 are mutually connected by the interference fit to compose a ball end mill. The external diameter d of the connecting member 12 is determined smaller than the external diameter D of a base end part 11b of the cutting part 11. A stepped part 14 is therefore formed between the periphery of the cutting part 11 and the periphery of the connecting member 12. The stepped part 14 may be provided with a cutting edge.
