This circular knitted fabric having a knitting pattern is obtained by knitting a yarn with a flat knitting machine equipped with a pair of longitudinally and mutually faced needle beds, feeding a yarn in a revolving state to knit the knitted fabric into a cylindrically knitted fabric, increasing or reducing the loops of a knitting needle part at places approached the center from both the side ends of the longitudinal needle beds by a prescribed needle number to change the width of the knitted fabric, and subsequently forming a pattern comprising wales parallel to the knitting width of the knitting fabric in both the side parts of the knitted fabric.
