PURPOSE: To increase the reliability by forming electric insulating layers on the upper and the lower end faces and the upper and the lower ends of a laminate electrode body.
CONSTITUTION: A high polymer insulating layer 1 is formed by soaking the lower end face of a polyethylene resin in a solution in which 10wt.% of toluene is dissolved, and drying it. The dissolving density of the polyethylene resin is preferable to be 5 to 15wt.%, and the lower end face of a laminate electrode body 4 is soaked therein one to three rounds. A plate-form negative electrode lead 10 to connect a battery outer package can 13 and a belt-form negative electrode 6 is provided to the upper part on the winding end side of the electrode body 4, while a plate-form positive electrode lead 9 to connect a middle lid 16 and a belt-form positive electrode 5 is provided at the center of the positive electrode 5 wound in the electrode body 4 beforehand respectively. A separator plate 3 at the upper opening 17 of the can 13 pushes and bends the projection 2 of a separator 7. A lid body 14 to close the opening 17, a safety valve 15, and the middle lid 16 are superposed with their peripheral parts each other, and a sealing gasket 18 is fitted on the outer side. The lead 9 is extended to the lid 16 through the center hole of the plate 3, and fits and calks a welded sealing member. In such a way, a battery of a high reliability can be obtained.
