PURPOSE: To maintain a hub through a communication line from a computer which is connected to the hub without providing the hub with a line and a terminal that are dedicated to the maintenance.
CONSTITUTION: A communication is made between computers 100a and 100b through a switching device 150. The computer 100a performs its-node access to a register 161a in an adapter 160a for the switching device which is connected through a data communication line 110a. The computer 100b performs other-node access to a register 161b in an adapter 160b for the switching device where the other computer 100b is connected through a data communication line 110b. The computer 100a performs switch access to a register 18a in a crossbar switch control circuit 180 in the switching device 150.
