To automatically set a port profile to switches connected to a plurality of stages.

A switch 1 relays data between servers for activating a virtual machine. The switch 1 receives VSIID (Virtual Station Interface Identification) representing a virtual machine subject to movement and a setting request of a port profile, from a server connected thereto. The switch 1 determines whether or not the received VSIID is stored in a storage device that stores the VSIID of the virtual machine operating in the server connected thereto and a port number for use in each virtual machine, at a port different from the port that has received the setting request. When determining that the received VSIID is not stored in the port different from the port that has received the setting request, the switch 1 transfers the setting request of the port profile to a switch 4 or a switch 5 which is ranked higher than the switch 1 in the communication path for relaying the communication of the virtual machine represented by the VSIID.
