In the case of decontaminating dioxins adhering to interior and exterior surfaces such as inner and outer wall faces, floor faces, and ceiling faces of a building, a dioxin decontamination agent 6 is brought into contact with the object parts to be treated, which are the interior and exterior surfaces, for a prescribed period. As the dioxin decontamination agent, preferable to be used is a reaction catalyst of a metal ion whose valence is changeable from a low value to a high value and dissolved in an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution.
