PURPOSE: To obtain a readily handleable dental cement, excellent in biocompatibility and having a high strength by combining calcium oxide with magnesium oxide and silicon oxide or further adding calcium fluoride thereto.
CONSTITUTION: The dental cement material comprises calcium oxide (10-87.5wt.%), magnesium oxide (2.5-80.0wt.%) and silicon oxide (10-87.5wt.%). Furthermore, calcium fluoride (preferably about 30wt.%) can be contained to regulate the hardening time and operation time and the vitrification is easily carried out. A polycarboxylic acid-based hardening agent is added and the resultant material is preferably kneaded for use. Since this cement material is good in biocompatibility, irritation is hardly caused even in filling this material in a deep cavity with a thin dentine. Sufficient adhesion is manifested by its use with the hardening agent. Since this material has a high strength and a sufficient strength is especially obtained in vitrification thereof, it can be used as a cementing agent.
