Abstract:
PURPOSE: To automatically and efficiently erase the failure code taking into consideration the operating condition of a vehicle without using any special device by providing a counter or the like to count the number of operation of a starter switch of the vehicle on a control part. CONSTITUTION: A failure code erasing device comprises a starter switch IS and a transmission control part 60. When the switch IS is operated, the prescribed value is increased in a counter of the control part 60 to measure the number of operation of the switch IS. When a new failure code is stored in a memory, the value of the counter is initialized. When no new failure code is stored, the control part 60 judges whether or not the number of operation of the switch IS reaches the set value. When the counter value exceeds the set value, the failure code stored in the memory is erased. When the switch IS is operated with the set number of operation, the failure code is automatically controlled to reduce the required time.
