PURPOSE: To provide a simple device for detecting other cars, capable of accurately detecting other cars in a short time through simple construction.
CONSTITUTION: This detecting device for other cars is equipped with a two-dimensional closed circuit detection camera 1 and an image processor 2 to judge the presence of other cars by way of processing a video signal showing an image of this CCD camera 1 at a point of each image pickup time. The image processor 2 calculates the degree of density variations in regard to the video signal on a horizontal scanning line in a line of the CCD camera 1., and thereby it is so judged that another car exists in an approach range at the time when the degree of these density variations is less than the specified one.
