PURPOSE: To provide a detergent composition particularly useful for washing a fiber product by including a detergent active component consisting of an alkyl orthoxylenesulfonate.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A detergent active material: 1-50 wt.% consisting of (a) an alkyl orthoxylenesulfonate and (b) a second ionic or nonionic surface active agent sufficiently soluble to obtain a transparent solution containing 0.5 g or more of the surface active agent per 1 of 0.1 M sodium chloride aqueous solution in a weight ratio of the component (a) to the component (b) of 1-9:20-1, (B), as occasion demands, a water-soluble alkali metal salt; less than 60 wt.%, (C) a water-insoluble detergent builder material: 10-60 wt.%, and (D), as occasion demands, a fiber product softener, fiber product softening clay, foaming reinforcing agent, foaming suppressing agent, beaching ant, fluorescent agent, organic polymer having carboxylic or sulfo group, perfume, and enzyme are mixed.
