Title:
DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING AURAL AND LOW FREQUENCY ACOUSTIC WAVE GENERATION IN MOVIE THEATER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS543502
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
System to control the generation of audible sound and low frequency sound in a movie theater, according to an electrical input signal derived from the sound track of a motion picture film on which there is a record of programs of audible sound and sound of low frequency of 20 to 40 hz, said room being equipped with first amplifier/speaker means for operating in the range of audible frequencies and second amplifier/speaker means for operating in the low frequency range, characterized in that said audible sound programs and low frequency are mixed together and comprise: (a) high pass filter means to pass more than 90% of the audible frequencies in said electrical input signal to said first amplifiers/loudspeakers regardless of the level thereof ; (b) low pass filter means for extracting from said electrical input signal at least all of the low frequencies contained therein whose sound is to be generated, and (c) excitation means responsive to the energy level of the low frequency part of the electrical input signal that exceeds a predetermined threshold level for passing said extracted part to said second amplifier/speaker means.
