PURPOSE: To hold a molten metal surface level in a mold to an optimum condition over the whole length of casting in high accuracy by incorporating mechanical looseness into control system in a batch by on-line and automatically correcting this looseness in the device for keeping and controlling the molten metal surface level in the mold in a continuous casting machine to the aimed molten metal surface level in the high accuracy.
CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a looseness correcting control means 16 for adding the prescribed looseness corrected value to the output of a valve opening degree commanding part 15 at the time of changing working direction of a hydraulic cylinder 8 and a looseness correcting arithmetic means 17 for calculating and outputting the prescribed looseness corrected value so that amplitude value of the molten metal surface level goes to the prescribed range or the min. and the working period of the hydraulic cylinder 8 becomes larger than the prescribed value based on a relation between deviation of the looseness, and the amplitude value of molten metal surface level and the working period of hydraulic cylinder 8.
