Abstract:
PURPOSE:To effectively correct the curling of a thin film type magnetic recording medium with a smaller-sized structure by providing a heating roller coated with a material having the thermal conductivity lower than the thermal conductivity of the material of a heating roller body on the surface. CONSTITUTION:An apparatus for heating is installed in the hollow cylindrical body of the heating roller 6 and the body surface of the heating roller 6 is coated with the material having the thermal conductivity lower than the thermal conductivity of the body. The material of the body of the heating roller 6 consists of a metallic material and various plastics or ceramics are used as the material for coating the surface of the body of the heating roller 6. The thickness of the coating layer having the smoothed surface is preferably 10-1mum. The heating roller 6 is previously heated and the magnetic recording medium 1 is wound around the heating roller in such a manner that the rear face of the recording medium, i.e., the substrate surface on the nonmagnetic layer side comes into contact directly with the heating roller 6 when the surface attains a prescribed temp. The curling of the magnetic recording medium 1 is thereby efficiently corrected with the extremely small-sized device in a short period of time.
