Abstract:
To improve efficiency of the evaluation and measurement of a semiconductor optical amplifier.
Optical coupling circuits 41a and 41b are constituted, by connecting the other-end sides of planar optical waveguides 44a to 44d having optical fibers 45a to 454d connected to their one-end sides to waveguides 6 and 7 of the semiconductor optical amplifier 1 to be evaluated and light is passed, through the semiconductor amplifier 1 and measured by an optical power meter 30, so as to evaluate the semiconductor optical amplifier 1.
