To manufacture a toner carrying member used for a thermal transfer image formation device in forming high resolution, high quality images not suffering from transfer of unnecessary melted toner to paper.
A toner carrying layer 33 is formed by applying on one surface of a heat resistive base film 32 such as polyimide while being traveled in a constant direction, a mixed solution of molten elastic material 34 such as silicone rubber and fine needle-like magnetic substances 35 such as ferrite with a higher coefficient of heat conductivity than that of the former. While the carrying layer 33 is in a state of molten solution, a magnetic field is generated by means of a magnetic field generating device, and the long axial direction of the magnetic substances 35 is turned to the direction perpendicular to the toner carrying layer 33 surface. Then, the toner carrying layer 33 is cured by a heater. In those processes, a toner carrying film 31 can be produced having a higher coefficient of heat conductivity in the vertical direction than that in the horizontal direction.
