PURPOSE: To perform all of a depurination stage, denaturation stage, and transfer to a film by electrophoresis by arranging gels on a porous platform in a tray.
CONSTITUTION: A unit 2 is provided with a tray 4 having both side walls 8, both end walls 10, and a bottom wall 12. A platform 14 into which a liquid permeates is provided at the center of the tray 4 and a vacuum chamber is provided between the platform 14 and the bottom wall 12. A liquid reservoir fitted with an electrophoretic electrode 24 is provided adjacently to each end wall 10 and conduits 20 are provided in the tray 4 for taking in and out the liquid. Gels are arranged on the platform 14 and samples are adhered to the separated wells of the gels. An electrophoretic buffer solution is supplied to the tray 4 so that the solution can cover the gels and electrodes 24 and a potential is applied across the electrodes 24. After an electrophoresis stage, depurination and denaturation are performed while the gels are held in the tray 4.
