To provide a simplified device for automatically cleaning the main operating surface of a corona wire and the charging control grid of a corona charger at the same time.
A cleaning pad assembly 42 having inverted and practically parallel surface is provided for wiping the practically parallel operating surfaces of corona wire 14 and grid 34 of a corona charger 10. The cleaning pad assembly 42 is held in the corona charger 10 in contact with the corona wire 14 and the grid 34 and made movable in the practically lengthwise direction of corona wire 14 and grid 34. Besides, in the case of linear move, that cleaning pad assembly 42 is automatically and selectively operated for simultaneously cleaning the corona wire 14 and the charging control grid 34.
