A sound recording device 1 can recognize the type of a connected reproducing device by acquiring device information including identification information, etc., of the reproducing device connected to a digital bus, and sends a control command corresponding to the type of the device to control the operation of the reproducing device. For sound recording, one reproducing device is selected as a sound recording source by operating a selecting operation part 14. After the selection, sound recording operation is started by operating a recording operation part 16 of the sound recording device 1. Synchronously with that, a corresponding reproduction command is issued by the sound recording device 1 to the reproducing device.
