To provide a device and method of reproducing sound quickly right after demanded to reproduce sound from an arbitrary position on a disk without providing a complicated switch means.
This is a reproducing device which has an access means to access a disk, and a control means to move the above access means to an arbitrary position on the disk. It has a memory means divided at least into a 1st area to store at least one of the audio data recorded in a predetermined length of a track and a 2nd area to record the other audio data remaining on the track; a recording means to access the above disk and record the above audio data of the predetermined length in the 1st area beginning from an arbitrary position on the track and also record the other remaining audio data in the 2nd area while reproducing the above audio data of the predetermined length; and a reproducing means to reproduce the audio data of the predetermined length and the remaining audio data successively.
