Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely monitor, with high accuracy, the transmission picture quality on a transmission line based on a picture quality feature amount of video in each spot even when transmitting video of fine pattern and fast movement or the like on the transmission line including a system conversion apparatus.
SOLUTION: A video image of 625/50 system is converted into a video image of 525/60 system in the middle of a transmission line 1 and transmitted. When comparing, in a comparing/determination means 7 of a central monitoring unit 5, picture quality feature amounts extracted by picture quality feature amount extracting means 3 and 4, a scanning line thinning means 2 and a field (frame) thinning means 6 conform the formats of the both systems apparently. A signal distribution/correlation coefficient computing means 8 determines signal distribution and correlation coefficients of the video image. The comparing/determination means 7 of the central monitoring unit 5 compares the picture quality feature amounts to determine a PSNR estimate and compares a signal distribution value with a PSNR predictive value determined from the correlation coefficient value to monitor the transmission picture quality on the transmission line.
