Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an easy-to-use free flow prevention device automatically preventing undesirable free flow of fluid via a venous tube of the type used inside an injection pump. CONSTITUTION: A spring clip 18 has a base 20 forming a passage accepting a venous tube 12 and has a spring arm 22. The spring arm 22 is elastically energized toward a closed position, at which the venous tube 12 is throttled by the spring clip 18 so that its hole is closed to prevent the flow of fluid. The spring arm 22 is movable to an open position against the energizing force, and at the open position the hole of the venous tube 12 can be opened to permit the flow. A clip opening pin 34 for moving the spring arm 22 of the spring clip 18 from its closed position to open position is provided inside an injection pump.
