Abstract:
PURPOSE:To suitably control a device for purifying exhaust gas by reducing the detrimental components of the exhaust gas via a ternary catalyst by disposing an exhaust gas density detector at the upstream of the catalyst and forming the detector with the same catalyst as the ternary catalyst to thereby reduce the error of a detection signal. CONSTITUTION:A ternary catalyst 3 is provided in an exhaust gas system of an engine 4. In a system for detecting exhaust gas components via a detector 1 and feeding back a detection signal from the detector 1 through a control circuit 6 to the exhaust gas system to thereby control fuel injection amount from a fuel injection valve 5, the detector 1 is provided at the upstream side of the ternary catalyst 3 in a manner that the catalytic component thereof making contact with the exhaust gas on the surface thereof is formed of the same catalyst as the ternary catalyst. Thus, the detrimental components of the exhaust gas to be purified by the ternary catalyst 3 allows to be coincident to those detected by the detector 1 for producing the detection signal.
