Title:
DEVICE AND SENSOR FOR MEASURING REFRACTIVE INDEX
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3172105
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device and sensor for refractive index capable of measuring the border between light and dark regions at a total reflection critical angel accurately with a high precision.
SOLUTION: In this measuring method, the border of contrast on the basis of the total reflection conditions of a sample is determined through the use of a CCD to obtain the refractive index of a sample to be tested. Functions Rr(x) and Rm(x) indicating the characteristics of the amount of reflecting light with respect to the CCD pixel positions of a reference sample whose border between dark and light regions are known and the sample to be tested are each obtained, and the correlation coefficients of both the functions are obtained as either of the functions is being shifted toward a pixel position. The amount of a shift in which the correlation coefficient of both the functions becomes maximum indicates the amount of deviation between the borders between dark and light regions of the reference sample and sample to be tested. After the maximum correlation coefficient is obtained by shifting in a large amount of a shift at first, the maximum correlation coefficient is obtained by shifting in a small amount. By this, it is possible to measure the border of contrast with high accuracy.
