Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device to detect trapping of objects in car doors that can reliably assure safety of passengers when getting into and alighting from a vehicle, and can be installed without impairing working efficiency.
SOLUTION: This device is configured such that power is supplied and detection signals to indicate whether or not anything is caught in a door are sent and received through an electro-magnetic induction coupling which is established between a terminal 7 on the vehicle body side and a unit 8 on the car door side. Portions in the terminal 7 and the unit 8 are constituted of materials that have a higher magnetic permeability than that of the material making up the vehicle body or car door to which the terminal 7 or the unit 8 is fitted. This eliminates the necessity for a cable between the vehicle body and the car door, and ensures the detection of catching in a door and the safety of passengers can be reliably assured. In addition, when the device is fitted, the electrical characteristics of the coil are not changed under the influence of the material constituting the vehicle body or car door, and therefore all that needs to be done is to adjust the electrical characteristics before fitting the device: working efficiency is not impaired.
