PURPOSE: To provide a diagnostic device for an elevator capable of judging the omen of a failure of the elevator by merely collecting the operation data from a measuring means normally provided to measure the operating characteristic of the elevator.
CONSTITUTION: The operation data of an elevator 3 measured by a data measurement section 10 are stored in a storage section 112. The average value of the individual operation data, the standard deviation value, and the difference between the average value collected previously and the standard deviation value are calculated and stored in a memory section 132. The average value and standard deviation value are transmitted to a failure diagnostic device 2. The average value and standard deviation value for the elevator of the same type are selected, the difference between that average value and the average value collected previously is calculated and transmitted to a comparison/ judgment section 13. The omen of an elevator failure is judged based on the difference between the average value and standard deviation value read from the memory section 132 and the average deviation value difference and average value difference transmitted from the failure diagnostic device 2.
