PURPOSE: To realize a compact dial display by providing the display unit to which plural luminous elements are arranged in a row and in opposition to the dial scale plate and then adding the display characters onto the scale plate and close to the luminous element at the end part of the display unit.

CONSTITUTION: Display unit 17 to which luminous elements 17aW17q are arranged in a row is provided to oppose to dial scale plate 12 containing dial scale figures 13 and 14 plus the display characters 15 and 16 each. Then elements 17a and 17q at both ends of unit 17 are lit up close to characters 15 and 16 of plate 12, and the arrangement groups of other luminous elements are lit up close to figures 13 and 14 respectively. As a result, the separeate installation is not required for the luminous elements to glow characters 15 and 16, thus ensuring a compact dial display. In addition, the constitution can be simplified since display unit 17 contains the luminous elements arranged in a row.
