Abstract:
PURPOSE:To incorporate components which constitute an optical diaphragm device in the tip of the endoscope without increasing the diameter of the tip part. CONSTITUTION:The tip part 27a of a light guide 27 is composed of only a core 34, one end of a wire 31 made of shape memory alloy (SMA) is wound around the tip part 27a, and the other end of the wire 31 is locked to a diaphragm blade 28 interposed in an objective group 22. When light which is made incident on a solid-state image pickup element 18 is bright, the quantity of illumination light exiting from the light guide 27 is increased and the SMA wire 31 wound around the tip part 27a is heated with the illumination light to transform the SMA wire 31 and the diaphragm blade 28 is driven to narrow down the light which is made incident on the solid-state image pickup element 18. Thus, the SMA wire 31 is transformed with the light energy, so the miniaturization of the device is realized.
