To safely and surely transfer digital AV content from transmitter equipment to receiver equipment in digital AV content transfer between two recording and reproducing apparatuses, and further to eliminate the need for dedicated controller equipment for performing transfer control.

In the transmitter equipment and the receiver equipment of the digital AV content, a content transfer information managing means 205 of the transmitter equipment manages a transfer state of the digital AV content as transfer information, and enables transferring the digital AV content without break by resuming the transfer of the digital AV content based on the transfer information when the transfer of the digital AV content is interrupted and resumed. Further, a transfer mode selection means 213 selects an optimum transfer mode for the digital AV content transfer according to the conditions such as a communication bus band, the transfer of the digital AV content is made possible even in a case of lapsing into an insufficient communication band.
