PURPOSE: To obtain the internal latent image type direct positive silver halide emulsion improved in spectral and chemical sensitization performances and graininess characteristics and to obtain a color diffusion transfer photographic film unit using it and high in sensitivity and low in minimum density.

CONSTITUTION: The silver halide grains for forming the internal nuclei are chemically sensitized in the presence of an organic silver halide solvent and the solid adsorbent is added before the end of formation of an outer shell silver halide phase to remove a part or all the part of the organic silver halide solvent. The color diffusion transfer direct positive photographic film unit is obtained by using this emulsion.
