To provide a directional array microphone which has the same directional characteristics from the upper register down to a lower register and also has unidirectional characteristics with a narrow beam width even when the array size is small.
The microphone array 2 arrayed along an (x) axis and a (y) axis, and first and second two-dimensional FIR filters 12 and 13 are cascaded to obtain directivity corresponding to the (y)-axial direction by the first two-dimensional FIR filter 12 and directivity corresponding to the (x)-axial direction by the second two-dimensional FIR filter 13. Those two-dimensional FIR filters 12 and 13 are configured to have a passing range formed from one nonphysical area to a portion of a physical area adjacent to the nonphysical area in a cross section parallel to a spatial frequency axis and also to have a larger amplitude in the nonphysical area than in the physical area when amplitude characteristics are represented on a two-dimensional frequency plane comprising a time frequency axis and the spatial frequency axis. Consequently, the band of the directional characteristics is made wide.
