Abstract:

PURPOSE: To offer the casting method by which solidification of a molten metal is executed continuously, and also, in the prescribed sequence, and directional solidification can be executed surely.

CONSTITUTION: On the inside surface of a cavity 10 of a casting die 1 consisting of split molds 2, 4, 6 and 8, a groove in which a molten metal 20 cannot be filled entirely by its surface tension is provided along the direction in which directional, solidification is executed. The molten metal 20 is injected through a sprue 12 and filled into the cavity 10, but the groove 14 is not filled entirely by the molten metal 20, and an air gap 22 is formed. Thereafter, cooling air is supplied as a cooling fluid from an air piping 26, passes through a nozzle 24 and an air groove 18, passes through the air gap 22, flows through a continuous space to the die division surface 16, and is exhausted to the outside of a casting mold. In such a way, the surface of the filled molten metal 20 is cooled successively from the side of the air groove being a solidification start point.
