Abstract:
To provide a discharge device that can reduce an amount of liquid required for suspending particles, and that can calculate a number of particles contained in discharged droplets, without conducting complicated image processing.SOLUTION: A discharge device includes: droplet discharge means for discharging droplets containing light emitting particles that generate light emission by receiving irradiation of light; light irradiation means for irradiating the droplets discharged by the droplet discharge means, with the light; light detection means for detecting light emission that is generated by the light emitting particles contained in the droplets when receiving the light irradiated by the light irradiation means; and an average particle number calculation means for determining presence/absence of the light emitting particles contained in the droplets according to whether or not the light emission generated in the light emitting particles is detected by the light detection means, and calculating an average number of particles, that is an average of a number of the light emitting particles contained in one of the droplets, for all the droplets, from a ratio of droplets not containing the light emitting particles relative to all the discharged droplets, that is obtained on the basis of presence/absence of the light emitting particles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
