Title:
DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3536309
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow the same inverter circuit to efficiently light discharge lamps different in rating by connecting a plurality of discharge lamps in series, making a total of lamp voltage constant, and thereby letting lamp current be of a value as specified by each lamp.
CONSTITUTION: When two discharge lamps of 25W each are connected in series by a series lighting circuit 3, the lamp voltage of each discharge lamp is 70V, voltage at both the ends of the circuit 3 is 140V, and power consumption becomes 50W. And when three discharge lamps of 15W each are connected in series, the voltage of each lamp is 45V, therefore, voltage at both the ends of the circuit 3 becomes 135V, and the power consumption will be 45W. Thus, lamp voltage is roughly identical to power consumption in either case as mentioned above. Therefore, if lamp current flowing each discharge lamp is regulated to specified current by each lamp by a lamp current matching means 2, the supply capacity of the inverter circuit 1 can be efficiently consumed by each discharge lamp.
