Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the discharge quantity of a high pressure pump for an internal combustion engine.
SOLUTION: Fuel temperature is estimated (S1), fuel properties (heavy and light qualities) are judged (S2), viscosity and density of fuel are estimated from the fuel temperature and the fuel properties (S3), the rotational speed Np of a fuel pump is calculated (S4), and an ejection quantity from the fuel pump is estimated with accuracy on the basis of the rotational speed NP while taking in consideration the viscosity and density of fuel (S5).
